For the first time, Tilden Community Changers launched it’s first year in McMullen County. It was a huge success!
51 total “boots on the ground” volunteers from 4 different denominations and 3 counties came out in the name of Jesus to serve our neighbors. To love each other simply because we are loved.
1 John 4:11 “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another”
And this is just what we did for a full 3 days in the blazing hot sun of South Texas. We loved on the community around us by doing repairs, mowing lawns, cleaning homes and simply striking up a conversation with those around us.
During the evenings, students from McMullen ISD were incited to crash in the houses for 3 nights of fellowship and worship. Each night after work, we ate meals that were donated and listen to worship music led by West Family of Divine, Texas. Each night, a guest speaker shared a word from the Lord. Thursday evening, Keri West spoke of how God uses ordinary people and their ordinary lives to do extraordinary things. Friday evening, Jennifer Wheat of Tilden Baptist put a twist on a popular song, Shallow. Asking the youth, are you happy in this modern world, or do you need more? Is there something else you’re searching for? Then, Saturday night Wick Turner of Christine First Baptist closed us out with Matthew 5:16. “let your light SO shine”. Brother Whick used Christmas lights in three settings, on, blinking and off; to get the message through.
I am forever breathless at what the Holy Spirit uses us to do when we truly surrender ourselves to him. We are already in prayer for Community Changers 2020 and hope if you’re reading this, you’ll be joining us.
